Transition to Practice

A nursing philosophy can be described as the nursing statement which clearly defines the nursing beliefs, values and ethical consideration (Meehan, 2018). These elements are generally studied in relation with the patient care and treatment management, while the nurses are engaged in their profession.

The concept of philosophy helps the nurses in expanding their bounds of thinking. By doing so they are able to critically analyze and reflect upon the given case scenario and how the situation might interfere with their respective ethics and beliefs. This concept is thus, very helpful in shaping the individual behavioral approach as well. Having a detailed knowledge of this concept is not only vital, but also crucial for grooming personal as well as professional practice of nursing (Hensel, 2017). This helps a nurse in being constantly engaged in patient case and yet, be in sync with the discipline of their clinical practice.

The nurses are supposed to play different roles and each of these roles have their respective mandates to be satisfied. Value-driven approach provides the nurse an ethical foundation, based on which safe and sound clinical practices can be followed (McCaffrey, 2017). It also helps the nurses to take an independent and non-bias stand, when it comes to delivering care to the patient. it helps in developing empathy for the patient, which can be helpful for the patient to cope up with their condition, physically and emotionally. It helps in advocating for the respect and dignity of the patient. It is also helpful for the nurses, enabling them to offer care in most optimal manner possible.

I would like to groom myself into a caring, understanding and non-judgmental nurse. I would like to be empathetic towards my patients, to help them cope with their illness and render them all possible support required in this process. I would try my best to work in close coordination with my team members as well as with the family member of the patient. As communication is the key to success in patient care, the same will be followed and ensured (Moon, 2018). I also acknowledge the importance of learning and will thus, be constantly engaged in the process of learning for advancing my skills, for ensuring continuity of care for the patients.

Nursing is a broader term that inculcates a collaborative approach between the healthcare professionals engaged in patient care, to promote health, prevent illness and improve on the overall health status of the patient.

The nursing theories are based on four main fundamentals namely, person, environmental, health and nursing. These elements combined together, make up the paradigm of nursing profession. Nursing theories and their designs are crafted in a manner that helps a nursing professional to develop and enhance on their skill set. These theories can come in very handy while assessing a patient for their particular needs and planning a care plan accustomed to their respective environment. It also helps in regulating the framework, thus, providing a niche for delivery of safe and secure healthcare practices. This is very useful as it helps in fetching improved patient care and coordination and healthcare outcomes.
