Accounting Anxiety Reflected in Students and Teachers

1. Accounting anxiety can prove to be devastating for people that already have doubts about the field they are pursuing, people have pre anxieties which can have different causes, many people believe that they will fail in the field or some believe that it will not turn out to be a viable source of living.

There have been several teaching models that explain the relationship between the two subjects. First, we have Behaviorist model, it is a psychological approach that suggest that all the learning comes from the experience. This suggests that many people who are facing pre-anxieties will be able to deal with them once they put themselves in the field. The pre-anxieties makes a person doubt within them and lose confidence. Another model that we have is a Humanist model, unlike the behaviorist model, Humanist suggests that ethical values, morality and positive intentions can lead up to a human’s behavior. This model can help the students in learning as having a self-motivated self is likely to be more focused as it will be confident and satisfied with himself. Accounting anxiety is mainly caused due to lack of experience and a weaker community, Vygotsky model stressed on the idea that for people to develop a stronger cognitive, there should be frequent interactions, this model could help people with Accounting anxiety in improving their learning as many people develop skills or deal with their anxieties with human interaction.

A person who knows how to deal with the accounting anxiety could be of help to the one who’s suffering from it. We also have the situated learning theory which can help students to deal with their anxieties, accounting is a complex subject and students can be more effective in learning when their knowledge is put into practical as they use their critical thinking skills (Souza, Dorothy and Clare, 2018). Another model that we have is the information processing model, this is explained using the mind-computer analogy that decodes that people process information just like a computer, they take some input and leads you to the final output, requires attention from all parts of the cognitive.

2. To sum up, all the learning models deliver an individual approach in order to help students to deal with their anxieties. Considering that accounting can be a complex and requires additional attention to solve the problems, the situated learning model can be the most suitable one. Through this model, students can be put into complex situations which will be require them to use their critical skills in order to solve the problem. Through this model, students will become more familiar with the field experience and they will become more confident and self-motivated. Forcing the students to use their critical thinking will develop their cognitive ability. From the teaching perspective, the teachers will be able to assess better the progress of their students, the teachers can conduct practical activities which will bring out a clearer picture on where the students stand. For better learning and teaching experiences, the Vygotsky model is also crucial as it suggests that humans should interact with each other to develop their cognitive skills. For particularly accounting, the complexity is a major worry and with students having the relief of relying on their surroundings which can include other students as well as the teachers can prove to a substantial factor in reliving the anxieties. Learning comes from practice and determination and the all the models we discussed are required when it comes to the effective learning of any particular subject, having confidence in yourself and an effective cooperative surrounding is a key.
