The article mainly emphasizes on the significance of managing professional as well as personal life irrespective of gender and its negative effects on mental and physical health. The author begins with the explanation of the advancement of technology that has changed several lives in distinct ways such as accessibility of information, easier communication and flexibility in the tasks. However, in contrast, the author has also mentioned that technology has also established a lack of discrepancy between family and work. The ability of the employees to harmonize their work and family life is hampered due to the extremely stressful jobs and long working hours which are also associated with various health risks.  The methodology used in order to conduct research is qualitative as it is non-numerical in nature. The research signifies the attributes and characteristics of work-life balance without measuring it in terms of numbers. The findings of the paper suggest that there should be an improvement in the practices of people management specifically in terms of work location and work time flexibility as well as support from managers which can contribute towards balancing work-life. The main finding of the study emphasizes on the significance of self-management as individuals are required to maintain their own attitude and expectations towards their work and life.

The author begins with the explanation of work-life balance by emphasizing on the strategies of maintaining the work-life that mainly include facilitating employees with several benefits, implementing policies and providing benefits to them. The strategies for maintaining a work-life balance has a great impact mainly on the working women who usually have to cope-up with the instantaneous implementation of the duties and various responsibilities at workplaces and looking after their kids as well as family. The author addresses various issues related to balancing work-life that mainly include stressors such as development of job stress, poor concentration at the responsibilities at workplace, reduction in motivational level, enhanced employee absenteeism, poor physical and mental health, low level of productivity and emotional exhaustion. The author has conducted research by using quantitative research methodology. A survey was conducted in various multi-national organizations in order to understand different kinds of provisions and initiatives given to their employees so that they can relax and manage their schedules at certain interval of time. With the completion ofthe survey, the analysis was done in which it was found that a certain percentage of the population would consider a career change for which policies related to work-life balance are significant and can be helpful in the management of employee retention.  In the end, the author has recommended that to maintain a work-life balance, equal initiative must be taken by the employee and employer that will lead to improved job satisfaction.

Reference: Kim, K. H. (2014). Work-life balance and employees’ performance: The mediating role of affective commitment. Global Business and Management Research: An International Journal, 6(1), 37-51.

The main aim of the article was to examine the impact of work-life balance based on the in-role performance and affective commitment along with discovering the mediating role of it so that a connection could be revealed between work-life balance as well as in-role performance. The author mentions about the social exchange theory that gives reflection for comprehending the ways through which employees accomplish their tasks and how do they commit towards their organization by having a relationship with the employer. Another theory is Attitude-behaviour theory emphasized by the author that helps to maintain work attitudes shaping beliefs of various aspects of an individual related to working situations. The research methodology used in this research was survey in which hypotheses model was developed. A questionnaire was prepared and around 520 were distributed among the workers working in the context of Korean business. The information was collected from 293 Korean workers by using regressions analysis and equation modelling. The outcome of the study reflected no direct impact on in-role performance by work-life balance. However, it was revealed that the experience of the employees intensify the affective commitment when they practice work-life balance which further has a positive effect on in-role performance.
