What parameters in both scenarios led to your decision making?
Using the second scenario, the decision on adding more medical practitioners was due to the fact that the arrival rate was greater than the service rate where it will lead to a collapse in the waiting process for both clients in the system and in the queue. In the first situation, the service rate was slightly greater than the arrival rate that leads the practitioners to serve the clients effectively but this will change with the expectation of sixty five clients per hour.
Why were they considered?
When making a decision that will affect the service of an organization, every factor is considered and adding practitioners to the organization will influence its efficiency. The organization will not be in a position to restrict the entry of patients but will employ practitioners.
What made you reconsider your decision?
The patients expected are of older age and are suffering from chronic conditions and keeping them in waiting is not a priority as they are considered weaker so there is the need of being fast. This second scenario will impact the hospital greatly in that it will increase the patient flow, increase the waiting time if no new practitioners are employed and will be invers to the queuing theory where the arrival rate must be less than the service time.
