Ottawa Health Charter and Its Effectiveness in the 21st Century

Introduction to Effect of Workplace Counseling Interventions

Ottawa health charter is the effort made by international health promotion; this was the worldwide pact endorsed during the first international meeting of health promotion. The significant influence was made for the growth and development of health policies across countries. World Health Organization in 1986 defined health promotion as the method of promoting the control over people for the improvement of health systems. Aim of the Ottawa charter is to determine a universal view of wellbeing to allow the health and well being of individuals for leading mental, social, and physical health (Chen, T.H., Huang, J.J., Chang, et al., 2016). Aim of the essay to review the policies and understand the significance of the Ottawa health charter in the 21st century.

Ottawa health charter has a significant integration of health campaign events particularly for the nations like UK and Canada. Health promotion is considered to serve along with the attributes like surveillance, prevention, and protection of health. The implementation of the Health Assessment tool is to promote equity in healthcare. The major role is played by global community organizations in supporting the generation to maintain a healthy environment (Thompson, Watson and Tilford, 2018). The basic health promotion issues are addressed like tobacco use, alcohol consumption, obesity, and nutrition so that they can lead to the promotion of health policies. It is known that four out five strategies have been adopted in the Ottawa charter for successfully contributing among different countries.

Challenges faced in Ottawa charter

The primary challenge that I faced by the Ottawa health charter in implementation is the absence of methodological, theoretical, and epidemiological strands. On the other hand, the lack of political involvement is seen in the promotion of public health and addressing the strategies related to equity in public health. An increase in the number of multinational corporations is observed that shapes patterns of life and the global economy (Thompson, et al. 2018). On the other side, it has been presented the article that there is the effectiveness of a community that aims at the promotion of health. It indicates that the interventions made in the community are getting success. Interaction of community and change in the system is bringing change in the behavior of communities. To validate this point, approaches and studies were made to make changes in the system and support a lack of evidence (Thompson, et al. 2018). The third challenge that is found in the Ottawa health charter needs to reconsider the conciliation approach recommended in the file. This should b the responsibility of governments, NGOs and media to extend health promotion. Broad nature of socio-ecological needs and innovation in public health intelligence to health promotion. Finally, all that it needs is the integration of health promotion and practice (Kickbusch, 2019).

Conclusion on Effect of Workplace Counseling Interventions

Therefore, from the essay, it can be concluded that substantial improvements have been made to comply with community action and public policies to promote equity for action in the Ottawa charter. This charter is very effective for the 21st century to achieve equitable access. The changes are made in health promotion principles to clarify terms such as cost attainment, policy constraints, and organizational dynamics. It can be determined that the Ottawa health charter is appropriate for the 21st century but the only necessary is to tackle the disputes and form strategies based on current health needs.
